Microsoft Windows 11, the world’s most widely used operating system, has started to receive the long-awaited version 24H2. The update, which has started to be released to users all over the world in parts, aims to offer users many innovations and bug fixes. Here’s what’s new…
Windows 11 24H2 will be a comprehensive update
Microsoft has started rolling out the next major update to Windows 11, version 24H2. This update aims to streamline the user experience while adding many small but useful features to the operating system. There are significant changes to frequently used areas such as the Start Menu, File Explorer and Settings.
Windows 11’s 24H2 update comes with a remarkable change, especially for Phone Link users. Thanks to the side panel added to the Start menu, you will be able to monitor your phone’s battery status and notifications directly from Windows. Also, quick access to messages, calls and photos will be provided, making it easier for users to integrate with their phones.
There is also good news for those who use HDR monitors. The new version of Windows 11 enables HDR background support. It also allows you to easily change monitor color profiles from the settings menu, giving you the opportunity to quickly adjust image quality according to personal preferences. To do this, your monitor must have software support and be connected to your case/laptop with an additional cable.
There are some useful improvements in File Explorer. The home section has been redesigned, bringing together recently used files, favorites and shared files in a tabbed view. Also, frequently used operations like copy, paste and rename are now larger and labeled. There’s also the ability to create file formats such as .7z and .TAR.
Microsoft has begun rolling out the 24H2 update in phases. John Cable, the company’s Vice President of Windows Service and Deployment, said that the update will be rolled out to devices gradually and that each user will get the best experience when their device is ready.
Last but not least: The update will be prioritized for eligible devices with Windows 11 versions 22H2 and 23H2.
